Cross-post from Unicorn Babble: To the Victims of the Pulse Nightclub Massacre (and the victims everywhere, every day)

To the Victims of the Pulse Nightclub Massacre (and the victims everywhere, every day)

I am so sorry.

To each of you who were murdered, I am sorry.

To all of the other lgbtq folk murdered this year, and every year, by people in this country, I am sorry.

To those murdered anywhere, again, I am so, so very sorry.

Too many deaths to count. Too many deaths.

How long do we let this culture of dehumanization and violence continue, where our brothers and sisters (and anyone anywhere in between, or neither) can be gunned down, knifed down, stomped on, beaten, or otherwise destroyed because some people think a man in the sky said only straight people deserve to live?

Where is our dignity?

Where is our right to pursue happiness, to live freely, to live at all??

Why do you hate us, when what we do can have no bearing on your lives at all?

If you don't like us, that's your choice - you don't have to like us. But please, please, stop killing us, and stop protecting, encouraging and enabling those who do.

Call out the people you hear speaking hate about us.

Call out the politicians who propose bills oppressing us, under pretense of 'protecting women and children'.

Call out hate where you see it, wherever, whenever you see it.

And love each other, Darlings, just as hard as you can. Love is all we have.

Love is all.

Just a few of the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre.

Phat Unicorn! Original Recipe: Amazing Mostly-Raw Vegan Savory Dressing / Mayo Replacer!

Good morning, Darlings! It's your favorite Unicorn, back with an original Phat Unicorn! recipe for you. I cannot tell you how excited I am to share this one!

Being that Yours Truly is on a quest for healthier eating and longer life, obviously I'm trying to make the best choices that I can. Also being that I'm a foodie, if it's not scrumptious, I'm flat-out not going to eat it. End of story. That said, I'm happy to be able to tell you that with this recipe, you will not have to give up any decadent flavor, and it will make your life happier. Yes, it really will. That simple. (Unless you're allergic to any of the ingredients. Then, just don't eat it, because, well, just don't.)

I created this because I like to pep up my sandwiches and salads with something creamy, delicious and richly flavorful. Store-bought vegan dressings and mayos tend to be filled preservatives, and most contain added oils,  refined sugars, soy, or a lot of salt (all things I'm avoiding). So what's a Unicorn to do?

Never fear, Darlings, because Phat Unicorn! Amazing Mostly-Raw Vegan Savory Dressing / Mayo Replacer is here!

(The photo is crap, but the dressing is divine. You don't have to trust me on this - make it for yourself. You will not be disappointed!)

Plus, it's super-simple. Throw all of the ingredients into a high-powered blender, and you're doing in less than 2 minutes. Enjoy right away, and tuck the rest into the fridge for tomorrow. (Worry not, if you don't have a high-powered blender. Alternate instructions are provided, because I've got your back.)

Let's get to it!

Back in the saddle at last! Or, the Unicorn Creeps Back

Greetings, Darlings! A very, very long time, no Unicorn, for which I am truly sorry. I'd love to give you a wonderful reason for my conspicuous absence, but the truth is I was ashamed. I did not so much 'fall off the wagon', as the phrase goes, but stampeded off the proverbial cliff at full gallop. Darlings, when Unicorns fall, we fall hard.

I've been hiding my face in shame for a long while, but at long last I return. I stalled for the longest time hoping some miraculous spurt of fitness and health would fall upon me out of the sky, allowing me to come back to you triumphantly slim and well.

(That didn't happen, by the way.)
